The Muppets - alternate takes

Since I did my swatches of the Muppets glitters in a specific way, that didn't leave a whole lot of room for imagination - or perhaps that's just what it did - I decided to do a set of different options for them. I picked up on a few wishes that you had, and played some on my own, and this is what I could do.

I didn't feel like re-swatching them all, so I picked out a few and tried them in various ways. First Gone Gonzo! which was the "colored glitter with silver hex glitter" I liked better, and I tried to work it up to some kind of opacity.

In the top photo it's a little thick because it was still wet, but hopefully you get the picture. And how many coats was this, you ask? Four. And if you magnify, you can still see my nail, but it's not terribly apparent from a distance. With a silver foil underneath you should be covered, literally speaking.

Next, I tried Gettin' Miss Piggy With It! over black, as that was one of the wishes I recall you had.

A little better than in the original, this is one "thin" (I really tried) coat. Still not really to my personal liking, as I'm not a fan of glitters that sorta stays on top of a polish...

...which was why I tried one for a jelly sandwich, one of my first thoughts of usage for these. Swine Divine inside one of my sheer jelly frankens, Trauma.

An additional shot with flash (ugh), as this is another one of the infamous sun free Swedish days:

Maybe we're onto something here? I also really liked how my name for this manicure came out: Trauma Divine. [giggling]

I wanted to try one more, and decided to go all in, so to speak, but it ended up half-disastrous, so I'm only showing you this one photo, of Gone Gonzo! and Fresh Frog of Bel Air inside my less sheer jelly franken Spruce.

Looks like a Lippmann laboratory mishap.

As I was editing these photos I could finally put my finger on what's so wrong with these glitters, except the evident flatness - it's the silver hex. The amount of it. It's in-between, in a bad way. It's too sparse to coat a majority of the nail in a good way, but it's too dense to look sophisticated. For that, it should be enough to land just a few on each nail in one coat. This way, these glitters just look like a festive rash.

I don't know about you, but did I kill your curiosity in any aspects? Have you now changed your feelings towards any of these?

Swedish word of the day:
utslag -noun rash
M-hm.

  3. This is sad, but it's the truth: I totally agree with you about the silver hex glitter and the lack of sophistication, but I'm going to buy them all anyway because I'm a HUGE Muppets fan. I don't even know if I'll wear half of them. This will be the only time I've ever bought a whole collection knowing I wouldn't wear most of them.

  4. You did change my thoughts and for the better. No need to waste money on ok so-so glitters. I still like Gone Gonzo, and Warm and Fozzie and thats it. I'm ready to see whats in store for next Spring already!

  7. Your swatches have been SO helpful! I'm sad that the glitters aren't a little more exciting on their own, but I really like your Trauma Divine creation. :)

  8. If they were not expensive at $8 per bottle where I live, I would try mixing them into the polish like a Franken. But I am with you, I am not a glitter fan. Ditto on the fact they sit on top and are bumpy. Also hate the work it takes getting them off. Thanks so much for the work and the photos. It makes me think about if I want more than one of the glitters. I know the glitters will be coveted by collectors. I am a collector but I use what I collect or I don't want it in my stash taking up room. You really nailed it on what the problem is with these glitters.

  13. The last two - sandwiched are the best in my opinion, and the last one is my favorite - because the glitter no longer looks silver :)

  16. I also don't like those glitters and when I saw this collection I didn't want to buy anything but Gettin' Miss Piggy With It! over black changed my mind and your frankens in jelly base-you just turned them into pure gold ;)
