Magic hissing

Another one for those of you who, like me, have this weird thing for "the standard purple shimmer". I never get tired of them. And many are actually a little bit different from the rest! I guess it takes a connoisseur... This is Magic Night from Finnish brand Lumene.

Three coats. Could have been good enough at two. Pink and blue coarse flecks dispensed in plum base. Wide, thick brush, which is usually to my liking, but this one had a bit of a difficult cut. The polish itself is pigmented and smooth - to begin with. As you're reaching the sixth or so nail, it's beginning to thicken a bit. Pro on that, is that it dries fast. Overall a nicely executed "standard purple shimmer", one of the better I've seen.

Additional photo, rather true to color.

And in case you're wondering about the weird third picture, the background of it, which is usually my limestone windowsill, it is now temporarily replaced by the bum of a blue Abyssinian. Sivert is living with us for a short time, while my dad's bathroom is being redone. As individuals of this particular breed is being referred to as ticked terrorists, you can only guess why my nails are out of focus - even though he was sitting still. These kittehs are everywhere, I tell you.

After a day or so of hissing and suspiciousness, I think the boys now get along fairly well:

No, I never make my bed.

Space in a bottle comparison

The other day I wrote an extensive post on the gorgeous lacquer I got from Andrea, the talented proprietor of Evil Shades Cosmetics, named Rainbow in the Dark. As usual, I'm well prepared - already some time back I made a little comparison wheel, which I now intend to show you!

These are my space polishes:

Lumene Natural Code Cosmic Girl, Icing Blackout, Evil Shades Rainbow in the Dark.

China Glaze Cosmic, Funky Fingers Moonwalk, NYX Girls Frizz Spots.

And from another angle.

As you can see, the China Glaze is really gritty, which is something that bothers me. The Funky Fingers isn't much better. And obviously, the NYX Girls is playing in its own division, though I still think of it as space in a bottle. Just imagine combining it with any of the other ones for majestic space results!

I have to say though, due to the smoothness, the Icing and Evil Shades polishes are my favourites out of this bunch. No extra work with a trillion coats of topcoat, and they're both subtle in their expression, just hinting the glitz, just sparkling up in special moments.

I wore Blackout for an entire three day period this spring, when I was away for a party conference, and I managed to make it wear pretty well until I did a touch up the last night... I highly enjoyed it though, but unfortunately it never made it onto the blog since I was in no time or position to take other than blurry iPhone pictures. These polishes are basic enough to wear for more than a night without being tiresome, yet sparkly enough to avoid boredom. Pure love.

And no, I do not have Eyeko's Cosmic polish. Sadly!

Damn it scares me, but also: damn it's intriguing!

Making trouble...

Nah, not really. This nice shade won't be making any trouble, provided you know from the beginning how to treat it. Check out yet another Scandinavian lacquer, Trouble Maker by Lumene. Which is a Finnish brand!

Gorgeous, huh?! I thought I'd jump through a window out of pure happiness as I first laid eyes on this sucker. Athough a mini bottle, I did not hesitate a second to pay the bucks for this one, (plus another two bottles for beloved friends), because, you know, frankly... I lurrrv these shades! I have a thing for grey shimmers, and when the manufactures throw in a little extra something, my heart beats multiple extra times (without the pain!). So, grey base with gold and some tiny specks of blue! COME ON!

Okay, okay, I'll calm down, promise. But you got to see, for a girl who got into this whole lacquer thing because of OPI's Brand New Skates, how can this be anything other than fucking A?

This is two coats, layered over Viva La Diva Head Bang. Yes, layered. Just like the afore mentioned polish, this one is a tad sheer. So I decided from the beginning I wouldn't even try building it from naked nails. However, Trouble Maker isn't as sheer as Brand New Skates (I had to check), and you could be okay with just three coats, depending on your personality. (The more OCD, the more coats needed.)

Now, let's hope for affordable, easily accessible, full size bottle dupes sometime soonish!
