Rererererererereinstas

Yeah, you know the drill by now - I have been posting on Instagram, but not on the blog, so here are my saved up instas. Check 'em out.

Wet'n'Wild Shield and China Glaze Ingrid

My Xmas mani! Believe it or not. OPI 4 In The Morning, Darling Diva Polish Spank Me Harder, OPI Love, Angel, Music, Baby, plus rhinestone candle thingy.

Gina Tricot Alexis

A-England Her Rose Adagio

I'm working crazy hard to win the elections coming up here in Sweden September 14th - will I ever get a break? If I can find the time to redo my nails once a week, it will be a fucking miracle. Stay tuned. (I love you still.)

Stamping's a beach

Interpret that as you wish. I'm not really good at this stamping stuff, but I'm trying, and I'm working on getting better. As I was dying to put one of this summer's China Glaze neons on, I had an idea, and decided to go ahead with the stamping stuff. These photos aren't pretty, but at least it was a fun manicure - even though it did not end up as I had pictured it in my head. I used Love's a Beach and Wet n Wild Black Creme.

My topcoat made the black bleed, and yes, I fail at getting the image nicely onto my nails, but here it is. Love's a Beach is good in two coats, and by now, most of you know that Black Creme is good in one (though chips easily). Stamping with Love's a Beach mostly shows the shimmer, at least on black.

This is a sorta double inverted manicure, so the hand you're not seeing here has opposite coloration to this one (three black nails, two pink: index and thumb). It's basically the Homa manicure once again, with additional stamping - my recent Midsummer manicure was a Homa too, but with dotted flowers. What can I say, I do dig this Homa stuff. If I had more and better image plates, I'd probably had used a pattern which even better makes this sort of rough gradient transition from one color to the other.

Despite the bad skills here, is this an idea you like?

Happy Midsummer!

This is what I'm wearing for Midsummer - rather girly stuff!

I couldn't get any decent pictures in the sun, but this manicure is cute anyway. Green nails are two coats of OPI Thanks a Windmillion, pink nails are two coats of OPI Pedal Faster, Suzi! over one coat of Ciaté Strawberry Milkshake (the OPI is sheer). The flowers are made using dotting tools, and the white ones are Essie Marshmallow, pink ones Pedal Faster, Suzi! again, glitter centers are Wet n Wild Sparked.

Have a nice Midsummer weekend!

Nail anatomy visible

And now some medical stuff.

This is a really thick book by some guy and some other guys. Highly praised as one of the most essential reference works for medicine studies, it's pretty much obligatory to own for any medical doctor. I keep it in my book shelf along with my biology and psychiatry books. Just in case.

However, this is a nail polish blog. So here's the real Gray's Anatomy! I got it from my dear friend Teresa.

This is four coats and it is still rather sheer. Also very streaky. But I don't mind, since it's supposed to be a pretty much dead on dupe for a Lippmann polish I've been wanting for quite some time. Look at the duochrome:

Waaay! The famous pink-green oil slick duochrome in a lightly tinted grey base.

I did try layering this one on top of a black creme, but it turned out so heinous that I'll spare you the trauma of witnessing it. Though, I feel that since I'm not entirely happy with the sheerness, I'll try it over a few other base colors as well. Maybe I'll post it some time.

Since this Wet n Wild polish is, from what I understand, part of a collection where all names allude on popular tv series, I assume the people naming them thought they did the clever play on Grey's Anatomy - which is of course originally a name play on the book pictured on top of this post. So I guess the circle is now closed. Though I really do wonder if the cosmetics people are aware.

Purple shimmer comparison

You wouldn't believe it- I have a day off! Fantastic. This means I have some actual, physical time to do a blog post. I just edited a shitload of comparison photos, so believe me, I have many coming up for you! Right now, this seems to be the huge comparison Mekka.

Today I have an almost full wheel of one color group I can seldom resist: purple shimmers. I have many more than the ones on this wheel, but they didn't fit in this bunch, as I tried to gather the ones I feel are the most typical and sometimes hard to tell apart. Though, are they really that much alike..? Let us take a look.

Here are the fifteen bottles I picked out this time.

And here they are, lined up after being judged by approximate bottle color.

First, let's take a look at one coat only. This is when they are usually the easiest to tell apart.

Clockwise, they are:
12. H&M Fashionista
13. Zoya Savita
14. Wet'n'Wild Eggplant Frost
15. Color Club Taboo!
16. LA Girl Rock Star Groupie
17. OPI Ink
18. Ciaté Starlet
1. China Glaze Midnight Ride
2. Essie Sexy Divide
3. H&M Wicked Purple
4. China Glaze Let's Groove
5. OPI Visions of Sugarplum
6. H&M Goddess on Stage
7. Zoya Yasmeen
8. Zoya Sloane

Sloane is really reddish, but has some kind of magenta or purple shimmer that slightly transforms it into a purple, so I threw it in here. Eggplant Frost is also mostly borderlining a plum shade, but the shimmer makes it appear rather purple, in my opinion, so it got to fit in here too! Because, frankly, let's take a look at the finished product. And... Um... Yes, this problem with awkward numbering seems to be haunting me. Please excuse that!

And to clarify things a little bit more, a fugly direct sunshine shot:

No, you don't get to see my by elderly care destroyed thumbnail!

Last, I think we should take a closer look at some of the best ones, in the same range, to see the little differences. Here, from left to right, we have Color Club Taboo! from the Master of Disguise Halloween mini set, LA Girl Rock Star Groupie, and OPI Ink.

See? Taboo! has the finest shimmer, Groupie is the most duochrome, and Ink... Well, it is the classic one. You can't tell from this shot, but it is also the only one with a charcoal base color. You can trace the base colors of all of them in the first wheel photo.

Oh, did you see my kitchen table in the first few shots?

I know, I know... And I was going to keep all my nastiness to where my seat is, but... As it turns out, I failed this mission. So now there are little dollops of color everywhere... Ahem...
