Darling Diva Polish Battlestar Galactica Collection - Chrome Job

Are you a Battlestar Galactica fan?! If not - become one, but if you are, I think you will appreciate the series of posts I will have for the next week or so. Yes, Battlestar Galactica theme week. Why? Darling Diva Polish, one of the many lovely indie brands, only recently released an entire collection inspired by this epic TV series (the 2004-2009 version).

Personally, I'm a huge BSG fan, when I finally got around to watch the entire set of boxes on DVD, this absolutely fantastic Science Fiction drama immediately entered my favourites list at no. 2 - just after The Wire. So you can only imagine my sentiment when I first heard that Carrie, the brand proprietor, was working on this collection.

The collection is an 8 piece, and the first one I'll show you is Chrome Job. It's inspired by the fearsome robotic creature in the top photo, known as a Cylon Centurion.

This is one coat - apparently of different generosity - of Chrome Job, on top of OPI Lucerne-tainly Look Marvellous. I wanted to put it on top of a silvery foil that wasn't entirely silver, so this was my ultimately choice due to its oxidized look. Found in Chrome Job's transparent base, is except for the much obvious red square glitters, also large charcoal black hex, smaller black hex, medium silver hex, and small silver hexes, all complete with both silver bar glitter and silvery, randomly shaped shards.

I also swatched it over a darker grey creme, Essence Movie Star.

This was one coat of Chrome Job also.

Last but not least, let's have a couple of wheel swatches. This is first Chrome Job in three coats alone, and in one coat over a black creme.

I think Carrie did a damn good job of interpreting the Cylon color scheme, and this was, not surprisingly, one that really caught my eye when I first saw photos of it. There is so much going on, but in a good, and not delirious, way.

The base is rather thick to be able to support the large glitter particles, and the glitter is also dense. Dense enough that you will get in trouble if you'd like only a few glitters on each nail, but still not dense to the extent that you may be able to cover your entire nail in three coats. I highly suggest you layer this one - it's worth it.

Darling Diva Polish, including the Battlestar Galactica themed collection, can be found at Etsy.

Was this right up your alley? Just check in again some day soon for more.

Swedish word of the day:
krom -noun chrome
The meanest surface material there is.
