OPI Vintage Minnie Mouse

The sun failed me, on and off, but here are some random swatches of the new Vintage Minnie Mouse collection from OPI. All colors are depicted with topcoat.

I'm All Ears. Three coats. Deep fuchsia to red jelly with glassfleck shimmer. Will also be good at two coats if you prefer that, but I always add that third for depth...

The Color of Minnie. Two coats. Bright red with pearl shimmer. If you liked Wocka Wocka in the Muppets collection, you'll probably like this one as well, it has the same finish. It glows so much it freaked my camera out. Could be a one-coater - I couldn't really tell if the color deepened with the second coat.

If You Moust You Moust. Three coats. The sun failed me here, so only one photo of this surprisingly bright bubblegum pink creme. Not bright bright, but I didn't expect it to dry as bright as it really did.

Nothin' Mousie 'bout It. Two coats. Massive glassfleck party in the typical thick glitter base, along with pink hearts. Three different colors of glassfleck particles here, pink, purple and golden.

Nothin' Mouse 'bout It over The Color of Minnie:

...and over If You Moust You Moust:

In lower light you can really tell all the stuff going on in Nothin' Mousie 'bout It.

Formula on all was good, pigmentation also, though I really question my own skills when I need three coats for a pink creme. However, the few little see-through spots I could see after two, bothered me enough to add the third. I'm sure most of you can settle for two coats.

Well, just like with last summer's Nice Stems!, we get an entire, but of course small, collection of mostly pinks (and the one red), of which one is a sparkly glitter topcoat. It's cute, and I understand that the general public craves pink shades for summer, but for me personally, the colors that come to mind when I think of a vintage Minnie, is all red, black and a white. Not pink.

Including a topping glitter with most collections, like OPI has done recently, is something I really approve of, since it definitely extends the versatility of the colors - I like that! When it comes to the one included here, Nothin' Mousie 'bout It, I'm a little torn. It's beautiful in itself, but I don't really like it layered over these colors. It will probably look a lot nicer over white or black. It's really busy with its three toned glassflecks and the heart glitter to top it off. But probably a must fot he glassfleck fan!

My photos doesn't do it justice, but my favourite in this collection is I'm All Ears. It's really a gorgeous deep fuchsia glassfleck, vibrant - it's a jelly, and I love jellies. I think it will please both the jelly and the glassfleck fanbases, although perhaps not totally unique.

Unique isn't exactly the word that comes to mind upon the sight of If You Moust You Moust either, it's a pink creme, the end. When it comes to The Color of Minnie, well, perhaps a red doesn't feel all that unique either, but it fits the Minnie Mouse theme very well, and I know there are fans of this particular finish out there. Also, this is the color that really makes me feel the vintage part in this collection. It's a timeless, classic shade.

Pretty much what is to be expected from a collection like this - not bad at all, but nothing entirely new either. I'm still longing for the day when Suzi will decide to make an all green mini collection - or why not a grand one..? Be still, my heart.

The Vintage Minnie Mouse collection will be in stores in June.

Swedish word of the day:
Mimmi Pigg Minnie Mouse
It's what we call her in Sweden.

  3. I like I'm All Ears. But I'm giving them all a go, like you said, I'm not seeing unique here either, and OPIs are really expensive here.

  4. I'm in for the first two but really... the hearts in the glitter topper... nay, too much.

  5. With you on this one - kind of expected. I would maybe buy the first 2 but certainly not the hearts in glitter topper. I bought one from Nicole by OPI and it was a mess to get the brush loaded with any hearts, let alone placement of them on the nail. Then I don't even like the form of the heart glitter - it's too predictable. Wondering if this is going to be the 'mini' summer collection we are getting from OPI this year - appears so. Too bad as they have had a couple good years with their mini summer 4 piece collections.

  10. Fina swatches, men kollektionen i sig är inte direkt spännande. Alls.

  11. I'm with you on the Vintage Minnie colors. Pink? That's more like modern Minnie OPI! They do look like cute shades, but remind me more of Barbie than they do Minnie. In any case, I'm All Ears is really making me want I'm All "Disco Biscuit" instead. Le sigh.
