The green month

October 1st marks the beginning of the depression awareness month. For the third year in a row, I'm posting to try to make you, those who yet aren't, aware of the widespread health issue depression in reality is. I know from previous years that some of us lacqueratis are sufferers, but whether you are one or not, please take a moment to reflect upon what depression means to those around you who are afflicted. Offer your hand or your shoulder, and make the day for a sufferer near you, by just being there, without adding the pressure of guilt about seemingly unattainable success or happiness.

This month is green.

  3. I love your greens. <3 And nail blogsphere taught me about depression as an illness, for what I'm thankful, because it is an illness and a very hard one and people really need to learn that.

  5. I really appreciate you making this post. Depression is tough and it's good to get the word out. I've had it for a long time but never knew before seeing posts like this on blogs that there was an awareness month for it. So many beautiful, beautiful greens. :)

  6. Green polish is my favourite, and depression awareness is such an important cause. It truly is something that most people just don't understand. Excellent post!

  7. Thank you sweet Feline. The greens you've posted are amazing, and I think that this is a cause that deserves much attention - there are many of us who suffer with this, and it's not very widely recognized. Too often I hear it's something people can just "get over", and it's not quite that simple.

  14. Thanks for the info. I always think of Oct as Breast Cancer awareness month. I never knew there was an official month for depression - something I have dealt with off and on most of my life but worse since I got a chronic bone disease and my life changed drastically. I also always have have SAD - seasonal associative disorder - winter is the worst for me - Sure you being there in Sweden know a lot of folks with SAD. Loved the shots I was feeling better when I finished looking really close at each one!
