It is fun to be moody

Yeah, nihrida saw my Nubar Moodies and wanted to see some more. Easy- I had already partially prepared a post, with some photos that I have before posted on the Makeupalley nail board, so I shot some complementary photos and here they are! The whole bunch...

L-R: Onyx Glitter to Clear Glitter, Grey Sparkle to Silver Crystal, Silvery Grey Sparkle to Lilac, Blue Violet to Sky Blue, Royal Blue to Sky Blue, Persian Blue to Green, Dark Teal to Light Sea Green, Carribean Blue-Mellow Turquoise, Hunters Green to Antique Gold, Plum to Blush Red, Red Sparkle to Orange Sparkle, Mocha Brown to Violet.

Blue Violet to Sky Blue, Royal Blue to Sky Blue, Persian Blue to Green.

Dark Teal to Light Sea Green, Carribean Blue-Mellow Turquoise, Hunters Green to Antique Gold.

Plum to Blush Red, Red Sparkle to Orange Sparkle, Mocha Brown to Violet. Not entirely color accurate photo.

Out of this bunch, the only one that does not work is Plum to Blush Red. Some have a more subtle effect, and others are more evident. Let us take a look!

Here we have my first four- Persian Blue to Green, Blue Violet to Sky Blue, Royal Blue to Sky Blue, and Dark Teal to Light Sea Green -fresh out of cold water. They look the same in room temperature .

Here they are, after a quick splash of hot water.

And here I first held the wheel in cold water again, and then quickly swept the tips through hot water, so you can tell how evident the change is!

Dark Teal to Light Sea Green had the least obvious change, but take a look at this close up.

Pretty cool, huh?

I have a semi weird fascination for things that distantly resembles the scientific, so after I had tried one, I knew I had to get more. Right up my alley! My dear friend Monica of wixology helped me out and got me my first two, and then four more- since the Nubar site only ships to the US. I found the rest in Swedish webshops, all on sale.

Even though they are a lot of fun, they are everything but pleasant to apply. All rather sheer, with a weird, undescribable formula. I have a feeling the pigments aren't very consistent through time, and that the cool base color may have changed since they were produced, but I can't of course verify that, since I have only owned them for a shorter time. None of this really matters to me though, since these babies are kept merely for the sake of collecting.

Of all the ones I have, I have only worn one- Persian Blue to Green. But maaan did I have fun that evening! I was attending a political meeting, and sometimes those can be quite slow and boring, so whenever it was, I just played around with my nails.

Unfortunately, these cuties are discontinued, but I thought it would be fun to show you this anyway. What do you think? Are this kind of posts fun to read, or would you rather look at easily available polishes? Please leave me your thoughts and opinions in the comments section, or click the reaction boxes below!

If not satisfied, I have a bunch of comparison photos ready for your consideration...

Because we have one. And it is cold...

  2. Those look so neat! I really love the grey to green one. I was walking past claire's yesterday, and saw some different shaped bottles in the display (from the window, lol, my polish-vision is simply THAT keen!!), and ducked in to look. They were called moods or moodies or some such name indicating a color change. I'm going to grab a couple of them this week.

  4. I like these types of posts. I only recently discovered my nail polish obsession, so it's nice to hear about past collections that were fun and interesting, even tho they arent avail. for purchase anymore.
