Darling Diva Polish Battlestar Galactica Collection - The Harbinger

The Harbinger. Starbuck. Kara Thrace. The characters we love the most have many names. I love Starbuck enough to have devoted way too much time to her own Darling Diva polish - I have swatched The Harbinger over three different colors. I know that Carrie, the brain behind Darling Diva Polish, had some trouble capturing the complex character of Starbuck, and as I was searching for the perfect base color to swatch the end result over, none would capture her personality in its entirety. In the end, I decided to show you The Harbinger over colors corresponding to all of Starbuck's different uniform colors. This resulted in the most lengthy post about this collection yet.

We'll start with the classic military green canvas uniform.

One coat of The Harbinger over the IsaDora In the Army, and I'm sorry, the sun escaped. The Harbinger has the silver holographic hexes, red hex, small gold ones, and blue shimmer. Do the colors clash, or does the mix make it more interesting? You have further pictures to judge from, but I think it's a great depiction of the diverse and rebellious Kara Thrace we know. And over the green, it perfectly translates the smokin', drinkin', gamblin' Starbuck:

Kara Thrace also has the formal navy blue officer uniform.

This is not the best picture of it, but finding good ones on the ol' internet proved hard. So let's look at nail polish instead.

Here we have one coat of The Harbinger over NYX Girls Ink Heart, a navy jelly. This pair is just fantastic. In this combination, the red hexes stand out to make it more interesting. We could perhaps think of it as Starbuck's temper, always fiery, no matter how formal the occasion.

And then of course, we have the Viper pilot uniform, or the what-the-frak-color-is-that-anyway uniform. It's so what-the-frak-ish, that it changes appearances in different lights. Luckily, I also have a similar what-the-frak-color-is-that-anyway polish.

One coat of The Harbinger over OPI Number One Nemesis. In these pictures, the OPI base color doesn't really correspond with the photo of Kara in the pilot uniform above, but I know that I'm not the only one who perceives this shade slightly green-tinged in some lights, grey in others, and bronzey golden in yet some other.

What the frak, let's have another photo of Kara in her pilot uniform, there can't be too many!

She's awesome like that.

Let's also have the now mandatory wheel swatches:

Three coats alone, and one over black.

Bonus: my Starbuck Mini-Mate posing with The Harbinger:

  1. This by far is my favorite post so far! I love how you layered Harbringer over so many different colors. I need to rewatch BSG on Nettflix asap!

  3. The combination of the glitters in this makes me think of my favorite glitter, which Kleancolor Firework—only more sparse, and plus silver holo. Firework looks FABULOUS over a subtly shimmery chocolate brown. I bet The Harbinger would too. I'm not even a BSG fan but I sort of want all these polishes, and I've seen no one else swatching them... thank you!
