Dust and dirt

So, there's one thing that always works when I need to find my polishing mojo again: frankening. And the inspiration for the little set of polishes I've made on the theme in this post, came to me when LA Girl released their Glitter Addict line and I finally, finally, got a pure black glitter in clear base in the form of Uninhibited. I have already showed you a creation I made with it, and I realized early on that it would be one of the polishes I'd use the most for frankening purposes.

Well, I'm not typically a pastel girl, but provided I can fuck the pastel up, I'm ready for 'em. I was going to post them separately, but one set of photos was just so bad that I couldn't bare posting them on their own. But first, better photos, of Uninhibited mixed with a cheap and standard creme white from H&M:

Despite mixing the creme with the clear glitter base, only two coats were required here. And guess what? It doesn't have a name. I've been lousy at coming up with names lately.

And next, the pink I had to make, to be able to wear pink in a proper alizarine way.

Not good photos, sorry, but you probably get the overall idea. To get this pink even more dirty looking, I added some Misa Grey Matters to it, which gave the shimmer component. The larger part of the polish is another standard H&M mini, from an old Summer Nails mini set, called Neon Pink (but it's not really neon, just bright). I'm not really happy with this one, but still actually wore it for a few days. In its defense, it is a cooler pink than it appears in these photos. Sun can be a tricky bastard.

I have a third one that I'm going to show you eventually, I just haven't had time to wear it yet. And as soon as the sun shows its ugly face, my top priority will be swatching the OPI Spider-Man lacquers, but after that, maybe. And we'll see what you think. How do you like these two?

When you're tired of clean and crisp.

    1. I know, right? I was thinking the same, but despite the obvious similarities, naming a polish something blueberry or something yoghurt just isn't macabre or hilarious enough for the alizarin. :/ Otherwise, yes!

  2. Oooooh, the white + black looks like cookies & cream ice cream!! All this talk of yogurt and ice cream makes me hungry :P

    1. That is precisely what I was thinking, and that would be a perfect name!

      Great frankens!

    2. It does, and I think it was initially inspired by some other franken with only small black glitter in it (looks more like vanilla ice cream in my world, though), but then, once it was on, I started thinking of it as birds eggs - not sure what species, since I know absolutely no ornithology. xD

  5. I love this!! :D I've been making frankens with that black glitter too (yesterday I made a pink crelly with it, and my sister suggested putting it in white!! Talk about similar brainwaves!! :D). Unfortunately I ran out of it. :( I want more!

    1. I always make minis, so despite using my Uninhibited for 4 different frankens, I still have half a bottle left. :D

  6. Wow, amazing frankens!!! Black glitter is so much fun, one of my favorites. And I agree with a commenter above, the first one I thought of with the white one was cookies and cream! So cool!

  7. I love the white! Very pretty! I have a name: Poppy Seed Princess. You definitely don't have to call it that. It's kind of silly. I just looked at it and thought of poppy seeds! Yum!

  8. I love them! The bits of glitter that show up like gray specks are fab. Lets call the white/gray one Mutt - like a dog that you don't know what it's roots are as far as what kind of breed it is. I think that's a good name for it as I have not seen any Frankens that look like this one before.

Lets see - the pink one - we could call it Poodle - sticking with the doggie theme. It reminds me of the major fav colors in the 50's with poodle skirts that were black and you wore pink twin sweater sets to complete the look.

Do those names work for ya?

    I am loving these both!

    1. I also have looked for a black glitter in a totally clear base..they all seem to have a grey base to them. I do have the clear base in the Nubar black Polka Dots however - but I want a cheap one to play with.

    2. You should get LA Girl Uninhibited. I buy mine online from cherryculture.com. It's usually marked down to $2.80 - still a lot cheaper than Nubars. :)

  9. The last manicure looks like Easter eggs to me! Or at least the M&M Easter themed candy coating...

    1. I havent's seen those! But they sound yummy - I love M&M style candy. However original M&Ms are really pricey in Sweden, and we only have the plain standard ones!

  13. Älskar den vita, den fick mig att tänka på Pippis häst Lilla Gubben. Kommer nu att bli tvungen att köpa Uninhibited och franka en egen version, om inte din version får heta lilla Gubben ska min göra det.
